What you need to know:

There’s a few small caves on the way up that you can sit in and check out. Bring some snacks and water. You can also do a bonfire at the top if you’d like for a night hike. You may need to search “Menan Butte” on your GPS if R Mountain doesn’t show up.

2. Float the River

What is it?

Sitting on rubber inner tubes and floating with the current down a river.

What you need to know:

To float the river you need inner tubes, and the more expensive/more rubber they have on them the better. If you get an inner tube that is too thin they can easily be punctured, and can make for a poor experience. Plan ahead and bring two cars.

You have one car at the beginning of where you will float and another at the end. Then once you finish your float you can drive back instead of walking. Because rivers differ with flow speeds, rockiness and rapids make sure to do some research on good starting spots and ending spots.

The most popular place to go near Rexburg is called Warm Slough.

  • Sunscreen
  • Intertubes
  • Swimsuit
  • Towels
  • Change of Clothes
